Our coffee

How fresh is the coffee?

We ensure the coffee is roasted as recently as possible at the moment you place your order. Freshness for us isn't marketing copy — it's the basis of a good cup of coffee.

How is the packaging put together?

All our bags come with a degassing valve. This valve has two functions: it lets CO₂ escape that freshly roasted coffee naturally emits, and it keeps oxygen out. This keeps the coffee fresh longer without the bag inflating.

The 250g and 500g bags also have a resealable zip, so you can close the bag properly after opening. The 1kg bag has no resealable closure — best to store that coffee after opening in an airtight tin or jar. The packaging is sustainable and can be easily recycled.

Where do the beans come from?

The foundation of our range comes from Brazil and Sri Lanka. Brazil provides the warm, nutty sweetness; Sri Lanka adds depth and subtle spiced complexity. Every month we add a rotating origin via the Monthly Special.

Are the coffee beans organic?

The beans are not certified organic — but that's a deliberate choice, not a shortcoming.

I work with Special Roast in Amersfoort, a partner that has invested deeply in the entire supply chain — not in a certification. The Brazilian beans in my coffees are grown using 0.4 litres of water per kilo, compared to the industry norm of around 4 litres per kilo. On these same plantations, they actively invest in training young people so that, through coffee cultivation, they can build a stable livelihood. And there's an active commitment to CO₂ neutrality: through planting new coffee plants and CO₂-neutral roasting.

An organic certification costs money, requires administration, and doesn't always say much about real-world impact on people and the environment. I believe the real question isn't "does it say organic?", but "what's actually happening on the plantation?" When I see what this partner does in practice, I'd rather have proven impact than a sticker.

Are they Arabica beans?

Yes — the beans I use in my products are Arabica. With the Monthly Special, this can vary per edition depending on the origin. The product page for the Special always states the bean type.

Is ground coffee available?

Ground coffee is available for Filter coffee (500g). The Espresso beans and Monthly Special are only available as whole beans — espresso requires a specific grind size that varies per machine.

Coffee subscription

How does the subscription work?

You choose your favourite coffee, your bag size (250g or 1kg) and the number of bags per month (1 to 6). After that, your order is automatically repeated and delivered every month — you don't have to do anything.

What does a subscription cost?

Subscriptions start from €9.95 per bag per month (Filter coffee, 250g). All options and prices are on the subscription page.

When does my subscription renew?

Your subscription renews every month on the same day as your first order. If you registered your subscription on the 31st, the renewal falls on the 30th, or the 1st of the following month if that month is shorter.

Can I pause or cancel my subscription?

Yes, always and without hassle. Via your account you can pause or cancel your subscription at any time — no notice period, no questions.

Can I adjust the number of bags?

Yes. You can adjust the number of bags per delivery at any time via your account.

Can I switch coffee type?

Unfortunately that's not possible within an existing subscription. The easiest solution: cancel your current subscription via your account and start a new subscription for the coffee type you want. You'll be set up again in no time.

Taste & brewing tips

The coffee doesn't taste to my liking — what can I do?

Opened bags cannot be returned, but most taste issues are easy to fix. Try the following steps in order:

  1. Adjust grind size — Too bitter? Grind coarser. Too sour? Grind finer.
  2. Adjust dosage — Coffee not flowing well? Reduce the dose. Too weak? Add a little more. Grind size affects this too.
  3. Clean your machine — Old coffee oils can strongly affect the taste. Clean your machine thoroughly.
  4. Descale your machine — Limescale disrupts extraction. Descale if you haven't done so in a while.

I want to return my coffee
